Daehlers Wirehaired Pointing Griffon
The Ultimate Versatile Hunting Dog
About Griffons

The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is the Ultimate Versatile Hunting Dog, being used for Upland and Waterfowl hunting, pointing & retrieving.  They are a rugged, athletic sporting dog that is loyal, intelligent, and shows a tremendous willingness to please.  These excellent hunters can point & retrieve with a style that is close to medium range.  This is especially good for hunters on foot.  They gauge their distance from you by the type of cover they are in.  A Griff will keep in contact with you and check your location while hunting.  This style of hunting is what impresses us about the breed as it makes them easily handled by voice and hand signals.  The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has an exceptional sense of smell and a great passion for the hunt, whether it be in marshland or upland areas.  The Griff is also a great family dog being very loving, gentle and affectionate and can often be comical.
We have selected bloodlines that follow the AKC and AWPGA standards and are very trainable.  Training the Griffon requires a bond between the owner and dog and a gentle but consistant hand.  Using lots of praise and eye contact while training will be what your Griff needs.  The more you praise your Griff for what he does right the more he will want to do for you.  There is no limit to what you can do with your Griff.  Griffs are wonderful with agility and obedience.  Have fun with your Griff!
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon can range in height from 20 - 24 inches and weigh 50 - 60 pounds.  The average life span is 10-12 years.   Their coat is a double coat with the outer coat being a medium length, straight and wiry.  The harsh texture provides protection in rough cover.  The undercoat is a fine, thick down which provides insulation as well as water resistance.
